EPISTEMOLOGI ISTINBAT HUKUM ISLAM IMAM AL SHAFI’I DALAM TAFSIR AHKAM AL QUR’AN

Abstract: This research aims to describe the epistemology of Islamic legal istinbat in the book Ahkam al-Qur'an by Imam al-Shafi'i. Imam al Shafi'i is recognized as the father of Uṣul Fiqh, because he was the first to formulate the legal istinbat methodology from the Koran and Sunnah during a period of disagreement between ahl al ra'yi and ahl al hadith. Imam al-Shafi'i attempted to incorporate a very broad and complex reality into a very narrow and limited scope of text with standardized rules. Knowledge of Arabic is the main capital that he requires in understanding the Qur'an, because the Qur'an is in Arabic. The linguistic theory used as a benchmark in this article is the linguistic theory in Uṣul Fikih Mutakallimin. This research includes qualitative research using library research methods and a content analysis approach. The results of this research show that Imam al-Shafi'i's legal istinbat methodology was actually born from his linguistic interpretation methodology of the Qur'an (lughawiy), such as the classification of lafaz 'am-khaṣ.
