LABOUR RIGHTS IN HALAL ECOSYSTEM: SYNERGY BETWEEN ISLAMIC LAW AND INTERNATIONAL LAW

One of the main keys in halal ecosystem is employment. The way the enterprises involved in halal market treat their employees and develop human resources within the company should reflect how Islam safeguards the rights of employees and labours and pays attention to human rights but it has not been a requirement for companies to attest their ethical labour practice to get their halal certificate, when it should be, as a holistic halal ecosystem. This qualitative research shows that halal certification body in Indonesia: (1) should put ethical labour practice in their requirements, (2) could cooperate and synergize with national and international institutions to control and supervise ethical labours practice.
